Maritime Silk Road creates 1 million potential jobs for SA

Johannesburg September 21 (People's Daily Online) - An Innovative Path of Growth Links with the One Belt One Road and Operation Phakisa Forum took place at the Michelangelo hotel in Sandton, Johanneburg on Wednesday.
The forum discussed various key points to strengthen economic ties between South Africa and China. The general topic of the evening was focused on the One Belt One Road initiative and the Maritime Silk Road initiative with the potential value of the Maritime estimated at USD 13 billion and one million extra potential jobs in South Africa.
The focus of the Maritime Silk Road is marine transport and manufacturing, offshore oil and gas exploration, aquaculture, marine protection services and ocean governance.

Several guest speakers delivered their thoughts of the initiatives. Among those were Dr. Bheki Mfeka, Special Economic Adviser to South Africa’s President, Ms. Yu Lijuan, Vice-President of Shanghai Chinese Overseas Friendship Association, Mr. Cao Xingzhi, Executive President of SA-China People's Friendship Association and Mr. Nhlanhla Magubane, Secretary General of South Africa - China People's Friendship Association.
Magubane highlighted the fact that the One Belt One Road concept implemented by Chinese President Xi Jinping has been centered around a win-win situation and works hand in hand with South African president Jacob Zuma's Operation Phakisa.

He further highlighted that at the recent G20 Summit which he attended in China centered on shaping the geopolitical discourse towers an inclusive global economy. "We need to realize interconnected  development by promoting common development of the world economy"
