Bomb Scare occurred in Sandton

Johannesburg Septemeber 19 (People's Daily Online) - 3 buildings were evacuated this morning at the Alice Lane Towers in Sandton. It was reported that there was allegedly a bomb inside one of the buildings where ABSA's offices are situated.

Among the companies evacuated, Bank of China Johannesburg Branch based in one of the buildings was also asked to leave the building as a precautionary measure. The police's Sandton station as well as the K9 unit arrived later to do a full sweep of all 3 buildings.

The police have confirmed that there are no traces of a bomb anywhere in either of the buildings. Shortly after the announcement people streamed in from Sandton City where they were taking refuge from the bomb threat, to eventually return back to work.
