Johannesburg, April 22 (People’s Daily Online) - Over a hundred entrepreneurs fromChina and South Africa got a chance to seek collaboration with each other yesterday, asChina (Dongguan) - South Africa (Johannesburg) Economic, Trade and TourismCooperation Conference was held at Sandton Convention Centre, Johannesburg, SouthAfrica.
A delegation of 50 excellent entrepreneurs from Dongguan led by officials from itsgovernment attended the conference. Enterprises of both sides that participated in thediscussion section involved industries such as footwear, ceramics, furniture, electronic,hotel and tourism.
“China as the fastest growing economy in the world is one of the targeted country in termsof Trade and Investment promotion,” said Motlatjo Moholwa, Deputy Director-General ofGauteng Department of Economic Development addressed the event, “So we believe thatthis conference is taking us in the right direction to radically transform, modernize and re-industrialize the Gauteng City region economy.”
Over the past 30 years, Dongguan attracted investment of entrepreneurs from over 40countries and regions, but it had little investment cooperation with SA. Up to now, noSouth African enterprise has invested in Dongguan.
“We hope to take this seminar as a new starting point and continuously strengtheninvestment cooperation between the two sides,” said Yang Xiaotang, Vice Mayor ofDongguan. He sincerely welcomed South African entrepreneurs to invest in Dongguan invarious fields like gold and jewelry trade, high-tech projects, processing industry etc.
