Dr. Yang Jiemian, Emeritus President of Shanghai Institutes for International Studies (SIIS) met with Dr. Anil Sooklal, Deputy Director General for Asia and Middle East of DIRCO of South Africa and his wife on 15th May. Both sides had a cordial exchange of views and discussion on current international situation and hot issues. Anil Sooklal is also the Honorary Deputy Chairman of SACPFA.
On the China-Africa relations and BRICS' intercooperation, the two sides agreed to strengthen exchanges of research centers and think tanks between the two countries, and proposed to establish sister institutions.
Both sides agreed on the necessity of closer relations between BRICS countries so as to unshackle ourselves from the West and make our own voices in the international society.
