A TV program named Sail out, are you ready? was officially launched on June 11, 2014 inMawei District, Fuzhou, southeast China’s Fujian province. It is a Chinese-version oceanadventure reality show.
In the following 60 days, six teenagers from around the country will sail an unpoweredsailboat and follow their ancestors’ sailing route to Southeast Asia.
The voyage will cover ten cities in four countries, from the South China Sea to thePhilippines (Manila, Cebu), Indonesia (Balikpapan, Surabaya, Bandung, and Jakarta),Singapore, and Malaysia (Malacca, Kuala Lumpur, and Penang). The teenagers willintroduce the profound history and culture borne by the “Maritime Silk Road” through thisextreme sea survival.
The teenagers need to take pictures to record their journey and tell the stories behind thephotos. They will also share their feelings during the entire trip. The journey will berecorded and edited into 12 episodes. After completion, the program will be broadcasted onmainstream Chinese TV channels home and abroad.
