Johannesburg, Jan 21 (People’s Daily Online) — You might have seen much Chinese Kung-Fu in films presented by Bruce Lee or Jackie Chan. But have you ever got a chance to greet it face to face? Thanks to the Year of China in South Africa, citizens from Johannesburg and Pretoria are fortunate enough to encounter with the splendid martial arts.
Tai Chi, Drunken Sword, Double Whip… Each with its own set of techniques and ideas, various distinctive styles of Kung-Fu were shown on the stage of Gold Reef City last night. Performers from the delegation, traveling all the way from China, are selected by the Chinese Wu-Shu Association. Among them are practiced exponents and national champions.
“It’s absolutely stunning. I’m so blown away,” a South African audience exclaimed, “It feels like watching a movie, like what we used to see on the screen, but this time it’s for real.”
The delegation is also heading for Pretoria to promote Chinese martial arts and to exchange their experience with local police stations in the following days.
