Supreme court vows to better protect servicemen's rights

BEIJING, Oct. 31 -- China's Supreme People's Court (SPC) on Friday issued a notice, protecting the rights of servicemen and their spouses and national defense interests.

The notice urged courts at all levels to pay special attention to cases involving the military and crimes that undermine national defense interests, national defense security and the army's combat effectiveness.

Crimes involving demonstrations in prohibited military zones, disturbing orders in military administrative zones, and pretending to be soldiers for swindling, should be severely punished, the notice said.

Forging, altering, trading, stealing or looting military documents, certificates and stamps, as well as illegally producing or trading military uniforms or the military's exclusive marks, will also be severely punished according to law, the notice said.

It also urged all courts to strengthen their cooperation and coordination with local military units.
